The great American Playwright August Wilson died tonight of liver cancer.
His doctors said this Summer in the month that bore his name he might live until October.
And so he did.
He was 60.
Here is the tribute I wrote to him on August 27, 2005.
We breathlessly miss him already.

He was one of the greats and I will miss him with you.
Thank you for your kind message, Karvain. I'm sure his family thanks you as well.
Beautifully said, Dave! His work survives onward without him to inspire future generations who look for meaning and wonderment at the predicament of the lives he chose to memorialize.
