Google Sitemaps Clicks

I found it curious, too, that Christmas posts here was such a big thing to confer a click-through here. I know I'm Mr. Green, but that doesn't necessarily translate into a Christmas tree or even the Grinch!

What is a "Google Sitemap" anyway?

A Goole Sitemap allows you to get a regular indexing of your blog or website without waiting for the Google Bot to visit your site. You index your site yourself and then you make that file available to Google to index. It's faster, cleaner, and more better. :mrgreen:

Okay so you tell Google your site is ready with new information. How often do you do that?

You can go to Google and resubmit your site yourself and Google will usually index it that day.

Or, you can use an automatic program that monitors your blog or website and when you publish something new, that program will alert Google your index file has been updated.

Where did you get that list from?

I pulled that list from Google Sitemaps. Google Sitemaps also provides "Top Search Queries" -- where a particular term was searched for and this site came up as a possible thing to click on and you can see that list below. The first list I published in my post today are the actual terms that people searched on and then clicked on to read. The list below shows what terms are being used to pull up this site for click consideration only. People might click on these articles or not...

Google knows all, soos!

They know even more when you give them even more power and access to your sites via Google Analytics. I will discuss that feature in a future post.

I know! Those search terms are all pretty good because there are several posts that will fulfill the search desire. I don't know what you're writing over there to get all the freakazoids after you!

Seriously! Apparently, I'm not as boring as the BlogExplosion reviewer thought! :D

I saw your post on that, Carla, and I had the same thing happen to me my first week on BlogExplosion where I had killer stuff -- KILLER STUFF for a strong week -- and one person came in there and nonchalantly rubbed me out with a 79% rating and some stupid comments about my content.

People should be screened before being allowed to drive a blog, let alone participate in a blog review service!

The instant I read my "review" and saw how easily it would be to abuse and manipulate those "ratings" in your favor or against those you disliked, I quickly turned off the ability for anyone to comment or rate my blog via BlogExplosion.

If they have something to say, they can come here and do it and not anonymously denigrate my work via a blog exchange.

If I were you I would turn off all that stuff because it can never do any good and now that you have, in effect, asked for mercy evaluations -- even though you said you weren’t asking but you were just by bringing up not asking -- and seeking comforting comments to your post against the negative reviewer, the whole thing is tainted for you in a bad and disingenuous way.

well, this is true... perhaps I'll go do that. :D

It'll be easier on your spirit, Carla, because you won't have to live in fear of juvenile retribution and bad taste. The downside is you'll have to live with freezing in the awful comment and rating -- but for me I felt if someone was going to abide a single review then they wouldn't "get" my blog anyway.

Well, you know, more than likely most people are going to find my blog by surfing, and they're not even going to see that review score. :D

Google doesn't know what colour underwear I'm wearing....lol!

Carla -- Right on! The score doesn't matter. Only content matters.

Karen -- We love it when you pop in here! I just did a search on Google for "Karen Underwear Color" and, you're right, it doesn't know! Yet! :mrgreen: You are always valued and you are always interesting! Just say hello even if you don't have anything else to say!

I have a google sitemap and according to my logs a googlebot user-agent visists a few times a day, however I dont have any statistics :(.

Heya Jonathan!

1. Have you had your site verified via the Google Sitemap website?

2. If not, go do that -- if you have, do you resubmit your sitemap update daily?

3. If you have done all that, your Top Search Stats and Clicks will be found on the Sitemap website.

4. Are you using a Sitemap Plugin?
