When I was a kid and we took a long road trip from New Jersey to sunny Orlando, Florida for our first visit to Walt Disney World, one of my parents made an observation about strip malls. No matter where we went, it seemed, the stores were pretty much the same. They were the same on the outside and the same on the inside. What a peculiar thing, I thought. At home we had such stores as The Princeton Record Exchange and dozens of other small stores - owned and operated by individuals or small groups of people, not large corporations.
What happens to a free nation and a freedom of spirit when the economy is so bad families are forced to go on food stamps in order to survive? Freedom dies in growling stomachs.

If you write a personal blog -- are you now, or have you ever been -- a Burned Out Blogger? If so, how did you pull yourself from the ashes?

Is it possible for two ones to ever become a second?

Abusing Sexual Harassers

I was shocked to hear a story about alleged sexual harassment in the workplace. I'm curious if you have heard similar horror tales -- or if this incident was just an unfortunate, hoary, happenstance.

In exile from Bangladesh since 1994, Taslima Nasreen lived in many countries before finding refuge in India.

We do not live in a time of plagues. Our children are healthy. We -- as a world of nations -- came together in a herculean, unselfish, effort to successfully eradicate Smallpox from the face of the earth through mandatory vaccinations even though, at times, those vaccinations caused death and illness in those who got shot or inadvertently exposed.

Have we met our match in inventing our own assassins? Is it part of our evolutionary, technical DNA, to foster devices that intend to kill us? Have we have created a death wish covenant with technology?

Do you believe in God?

Is Starbucks a brand in declination and a failing business? Has the reality of paying $8.00 for a latte finally hit bean bottom of a pitless pocketbook as people realize they can no longer afford fancy coffees if they can't first pay their mortgages and mounting credit card bills?

Marlee Matlin -- a gorgeous and talented 43-year-old Deaf actress and Academy Award winner -- made her debut last night on Dancing with the Stars, but few people realize the magnitude and the magnificence of her accomplishment.

Yesterday, David Paterson was sworn in as the 55th governor of the State of New York. Governor Paterson is also first Blind and Black man to hold that high office.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Will you be drinking into drunkenness today?

Are you wearing green right now?

Will you be pinching those who aren't wearing green?

Do you even participate in this non-holiday celebration?

Can you decipher the gibberish in the title of today's post? If you under 15-years-old you certainly can. If you're over 40 -- you might need a clue.

We now have a face for "Kristin" -- Ashley Youmans (aka Ashley Alexandra Dupré), a 22-year-old, fresh-faced, New Jersey nymph -- to go with our Spitzer Hooker Scandal.

With the Governor of New York spending $80,000 on hookers -- should we be surprised to learn 25% of teenage American girls are infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, genital herpes and trichomoniasis? If you're a Black female teenager, your infection rate is 50%.

Eliot Spitzer -- Client Nine -- is now forever known as "The Empire State Governor John" -- after getting caught up in an FBI/IRS sex ring sting where it was discovered he appeared to be cheating on the wishes of his wife while smashing the dreams of his three daughters and vetoing voter faith by simply seeking sexual release with a call girl.

Crowds are not wise.

Can you sum up your life in three words?

Freud was a fan of the power of three. Here's my try: Lonesome, yearning, sharing. What are your three words and why did you choose them?
I am a fan of Big Brother on CBS television even though the "reality show" is filled with miscreants, the dishonorable, and the verifiably wacky.

Each season of Big Brother descends deeper into debauchery and a cruel malfeasance blasted on everyone within eyeshot and earshot of each other -- and while one recoils from the idea of actually watching the disassembly of lives in real time -- one cannot help but find delight in the evolutionary machinations of a house full of people fighting each other for a $500,000.00 USD prize.

This year's Big Brother is the first "winter" edition, but that doesn't mean the show, or the people starring in it, are any better than the previous summertime versions.
Hillary Clinton is Karl Rove in a dress.

Victoria's Secret has an image problem.

The United States is now the number one nation of the incarcerated in the world. The Pew Center on the States released a new report that one in 99 Americans is a prisoner in the nation's overcrowded jail and prison system.
