We live the life of the Outlier and while that is a difficult existence in all realities, there is also a certain satiety in being able to view the mainstream from afar and learn from their mistakes in mass thinking.  SuperGenius author Malcolm Gladwell argues in his "Outlier" book that the rule for finding the greatest success in life costs you 10,000 hours of practice and study.

Every week, I get an email from GuitarInstructor.com detailing the new video lessons and guitar TABs they have for sale.  Last week, I was especially intrigued to see a video lesson from country singing star John Denver on how to build left hand fretboard strength.

Tempering Teenage Angst

Teenagers easily get bored.  To fill that idle time they can study, play or work.  Sometimes that idle time turns into crime in the streets and the best way to use teen energy is to put it to work in the marketplace so they become vested and productive movers in the community.  There's no better cure for teen angst than working for your daily bread.

Pimping Our Children

Are we pimping out our children's education just to help line the pockets of big business?

In June of 2008, we wrote about Federal Punishment of Urban Needle Exchanges:

Needle Exchange Programs in the Urban Core promote good health practices and are important mechanisms for predictably protecting the well being of the mainstream community while saving those who are the most incapable of making good decisions about their health.
In the USA, we like to arrogantly, and naively, believe that we still lead the world in all modern thinking and historic wondering -- but when we're faced with the hard facts that we're losing the battle of the minds in BioScience -- will we dedicate billions of dollars to win that international "war" as we have done in Iraq and Afghanistan, or are we forever stuck in our destination of the middling mind?
