Who decided newly elected presidents have only one year of "blaming their predecessor" for the failures of the country and then, after a 12-month grace period, they "own" everything that's on fire around them?  That's a ridiculous notion based in fantasy and not hardened by reality.

President Obama stepped forward yesterday and took personal responsibility for the failure to stop the "underwear bomber" from getting on the plane. 

We have been attacked. You don't know how to find your loved ones. You try to log on to the internet to send email. Your access is denied. The President of the United States has disconnected you in the name national security in the middle of a worldwide crisis. In your hour of need, you have been cut off from the web with no immediate expectation for getting back online.

We have been slowly learning the terms of the CIA torture program's "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques" -- and we applaud President Obama's search for the truth -- and as citizens of the world, we need to know precisely what we've been doing to other human beings if we ever hope to lead the world back into the light of day instead of living in the night terrors of the darkness. 

Ted Kennedy is dead, and in the aftermath of his life, one thing still rubs dark his image as the lion of the Senate and continues to forever stain his legacy with blood:  His cowardly tether to Mary Jo Kopechne.

We have loved Barack Obama as a presidential candidate and defended him as president -- but as a president, he is clearly immediately failing us all -- and thus flunking the world.  Because of his obscene failures on healthcare, the economy, the war, and terror, he has fully owned his public mocking.

I have tried to stay out of the "Obama Birther" fray because the whole thing is a Racist and Bigoted straw man argument evilly designed to damage and remove the first Black president of the United States from office.  Giving a public nod to the Birthers -- even to repudiate their ugly claims -- gives them precisely what they crave:  A moment in the sunny public square to spew their dark hatred.  Orly Taitz is the head crackpot leading the charge against Obama, and so she rightly deserves to be exposed, dismantled, and weakened by her own ineptitude.
